The FSB of Russia stopped an attempt by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) to recruit Dmitry Kostamin, First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the DPR. About this with reference to the press service of the Department for the region writes TASS.
According to the FSB, Kostamin’s wife came to Kharkiv for her mother’s funeral on March 1, where she was detained by Ukrainian special services. The SBU officers threatened her with physical violence and tried to force the official to hand over classified information.
In particular, they demanded information, including personal and compromising data about the leadership of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and other departments of the power bloc, and in return promised to send Kostamin a recording of his wife’s voice. As a result of the “operational game” of the Russian special services, the official’s wife was released and left the territory of Ukraine.
The FSB clarified that the official’s wife is a theater actress; during the arrest, she refused to cooperate with the SBU. The department added that they regularly record attempts to recruit DPR officials through intimidation and blackmail.
During the special operation in Ukraine, Russian troops took full control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Subsequently, these territories became part of Russia. Kharkov is under the control of Kyiv.
