The FSB officers detained two residents of Sevastopol, who themselves offered the Ukrainian special services to buy data on the objects of the Russian Defense Ministry from them. About it reported “RIA Novosti” with reference to the TsOS FSB.
“It has been established that two residents of Sevastopol, born in 1979 and 1995, initiated an initiative to establish contact with the special services of Ukraine in order to transfer data for a monetary reward on the location of objects of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the leakage of which abroad could damage the state’s defense capability,” the statement said.
It is specified that one of the detainees transmitted data on the location of military facilities by e-mail, and the second confirmed his intentions, but did not manage to send anything.
On footage distributed by the FSB, one of the detainees discovered a passport of a citizen of Ukraine, a notebook and a laptop containing pictures of military facilities.
Criminal cases were initiated against the detainees on the fact of treason (Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and the establishment of cooperation on a confidential basis with a foreign state (Article 275.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The maximum punishment under the article on treason is imprisonment for up to 20 years.
