FSB announced the detention of an LGBT activist in the Oryol region on suspicion of treason

FSB officers detained an LGBT activist who had previously changed gender on suspicion of treason due to the transfer of money to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was reported in the Center for Public Relations (CSP) of the FSB of Russia.
“The FSB of the Russian Federation stopped the illegal activities of a Russian citizen, a resident of the Oryol region, involved in high treason in the form of financial assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, directed against the security of Russia,” the report says (cit. according to TASS).
FSB officers established that the detainee was a resident of the Orel region, who had previously changed gender from female to male, a volunteer of the OVD-Info media project (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation).
A criminal case on treason was initiated against him (Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The maximum punishment under this article provides for imprisonment for up to 20 years or life.
On April 28, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law imposing life sentences for high treason. The amendments amend Art. 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Prior to this, the maximum punishment under the article was 20 years in prison with a fine of 500,000 rubles.
