In Rostov-on-Don, a member of the Azov national battalion (recognized as an extremist organization in the Russian Federation and banned) was detained, who came to Russia under the guise of a refugee. This was reported in the Center for Public Relations of the FSB, transmits TASS.
“Despite the recognition of Azov as a terrorist organization, adhering to ultra-right neo-Nazi views, he propagated the interests of a terrorist organization among the youth of Rostov-on-Don,” the statement said.
The FSB found that the man joined the battalion in 2016 and took part in the “March of Nations” that took place in Kyiv under the leadership of Ukrainian nationalists. At the same time, campaign materials containing the symbols of “Azov” were found at the address of his place of residence. In particular, on one of the frames from the video with the detention of a man there is a brochure with the title “Bet on the younger generation.”
A criminal case was initiated against the detainee on the fact of participation in a terrorist organization (part 2 of article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The maximum penalty under this article is imprisonment for up to 20 years.
