FSB accuses NATO and the Pentagon of cyberattacks against Russia

Western countries use Ukraine’s network infrastructure to carry out cyber attacks against Russia. About it write “RIA Novosti” with reference to the press service of the FSB.

“In the course of the analysis of identified computer threats, data was obtained indicating the use of Ukrainian territory by the United States and NATO countries for conducting massive computer attacks on civilian facilities in Russia,” the statement said.

The FSB clarified that by using the Ukrainian infrastructure, Western countries can “covertly use new types of cyber weapons.”

The department stressed that cyberattack programs are being developed by the Pentagon in conjunction with international and national hacker groups. In total, since the beginning of 2022, about 5,000 cyberattacks have been launched against Russian critical infrastructure facilities, which were repelled.

In early March, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko at a meeting with young scientists, inventors and technological entrepreneurs of the world-class Eurasian REC in Ufa informedthat in 2023 the number of cyber attacks on Russian systems increased by 65%. Chernyshenko blamed Western countries for attacks on information systems.

In January of this year, Deputy Prime Minister declaredthat in 2022, about 50,000 hacker attacks on Russian Internet resources were repelled. According to him, in 2021 the target of the attacks was the financial sector, and in 2022 the public sector. Chernyshenko added that “many thousands of different computer vulnerabilities” have also been identified.
