His parents, farmers in Finistère, never had a library. In memory of her little girl’s readings by the light of oil lamps, she made a collection of them, which now sits above the granite fireplace in the living room.
Amassed during nineteen years of detention, his son’s books – whose pages are sometimes annotated, dog-eared or marked with a small piece of paper – shed light on the folds of a man known to all, but who remained until his death. death a mystery.
