President Vladimir Putin, speaking with a message to the Federal Assembly, said that in Russia the number of citizens who go in for sports has recently increased significantly. As part of encouraging Russians who lead an active lifestyle, from 2025, those who successfully pass the GTO standards will be provided with tax deductions. Similar support will be provided to citizens who undergo regular medical examinations.
“In recent years, the number of citizens who regularly engage in sports has increased significantly. This is one of our significant achievements. We need to encourage people who take responsibility for their health. Starting next year, we will provide tax deductions for everyone who regularly undergoes medical examination on a planned basis, and also successfully passes the GTO standards,” the president said.
During the announcement of the message, Vladimir Putin also announced launch of the national project “Long and Active Life”, the goal of which is to increase the average life expectancy of Russians. As part of the project until 2030, more than 1 trillion rubles will be additionally allocated for the construction, repair and equipment of healthcare facilities. It is planned to build 350 sports complexes annually. Until 2030, 65 billion rubles will be allocated for these purposes.
