French FM: Europe needs to seek greater autonomy from the US

Europe needs to achieve greater independence from the United States in order to ignore the outcome of every election campaign in this country. This was stated in an interview with the Le Parisien newspaper by French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna.
“I’ll just say that if the Europeans don’t want to live in suspense before every American election, then they should look for more autonomy,” the French foreign minister said. At the same time, she added that autonomy does not mean a big distance from the United States.
The column also commented on the results of the US midterm elections. In her opinion, the Republicans did not show the results they expected. The diplomat made a reservation that the voting results have not yet been summed up everywhere and it is not worth making hasty conclusions.
At the moment, the counting of votes in the midterm elections in the United States continues. The Republicans have not yet guaranteed themselves a majority even in the House of Representatives. But who will gain control of the Senate will be known after the second round of elections in the state of Georgia on December 6.
