More than half of freelancers (52%) who carry out orders for legal entities work in the status of self-employed. This follows from the results of a joint survey conducted by Solar Staff and Data Insight. 20% of the freelancers surveyed reported that they have the status of an individual entrepreneur, and 23% work as ordinary individuals.

When working with companies, freelancers who are not self-employed face comparable challenges. 45% of the self-employed and 56% of individuals said they were in situations where legal entities refused to work with them because of their tax status. Some of them managed to solve the problem of concluding a contract with the help of familiar individual entrepreneurs – 23% of the self-employed and 26% of freelancers-individuals resorted to their help. Another 19% of the self-employed and 29% of individuals were forced to abandon the order due to difficulties.

More than half of freelancers working with companies (55%) complete orders for them alone. Only 4% of freelancers work “in a team”, a quarter of such workers (26%) occasionally work in groups. The main sources of orders for them are social networks (39%), freelance exchanges (38%) and websites / message boards (31%).

The majority of freelancers in the survey sample provide services in one of three areas. These are IT and development (34%), copyright and journalism (32%), marketing and advertising (28%). The wages are above average in IT, below average in copywriting. Thus, among freelancers involved in the development and analytics of data, the largest share of respondents receiving more than 500 thousand rubles. per month – 4%. Most of these specialists (47%), however, earn within 50 thousand rubles. per month (see chart).

It should be noted that from the data of the QIWI payment company and the National Guild of Freelancers, it follows that the income of this category of workers remains relatively stable so far. Only 21% and 20% of respondents, respectively, complained about a significant reduction in earnings or the number of orders. Some freelancers were probably even able to increase their income – according to Mikhail Sysuenkov, director of the FL.ru remote work platform, over the year the “average check” of a freelancer increased by 18%, and that of a self-employed freelancer by 49%.
