France will send a navy ship to the shores of the Gaza Strip to support local hospitals, President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron said at a press conference with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
“I would like to announce here that I have decided to send a ship from our Navy so that it can arrive as soon as possible and support the hospitals in the Gaza Strip. He will depart from Toulon [город во Франции] in the next 48 hours,” he said (quote according to TASS).
Since October 7, fighting has been going on in southern Israel between the Palestinian group Hamas and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The Israeli army is conducting a retaliatory Operation Iron Swords, striking the Gaza Strip, and also announces a ground operation in the enclave.
As a result of the fighting, according to the latest data, about 6,500 people were killed, including more than 5,000 from the Gaza Strip. Among the dead are 23 Russian citizens, four are missing.
Previously, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin reportedthat the lower house will prepare an appeal to the UN General Assembly in connection with the difficult humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. He noted the continued death of enclave residents, children and elderly people. Israel, in turn, claims that it only attacks Hamas infrastructure.
