About 50 countries included in the contact group for the defense of Ukraine, also called the Ramstein format, have created a coalition that should simplify the financing of artillery supplies to Kyiv. The French Ministry of Defense announced this on Thursday, January 18.

The creation of the “Artillery for Ukraine” coalition was announced by the head of the defense department of the European country, Sebastian Lecornu, and his Ukrainian colleague Rustem Umerov.

The release said the coalition’s goal is to strengthen military support for Kyiv and do so “for as long as necessary.”

“Its goal is to supply the Armed Forces of Ukraine with weapons in this key defense segment in the short term,” the official statement says.

It also states that it will “create the future of Ukrainian artillery through innovative and ambitious production partnerships.”

Earlier it became known that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) they spend five to eight thousand shells every day 155 mm caliber, while France produces only 20 thousand of such ammunition annually.
