Former UN Security Council chief Mahbubani: US “turned” on itself

Former Singapore representative to the UN and ex-head of the organization’s Security Council, Professor Kishore Mahbubani admitted that he was always surprised by the attitude of the United States towards the rest of the world.
Many believe that the United States has the best and freest press and television. The diplomat noted that he annually visits 30-40 countries, but only in Washington he feels cut off from the whole world.
Kishore Mahbubani stressed that the degree of self-obsession in the American media is simply frightening.
“This applies not only to TV, but also to The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal. They are turned on themselves and are fed from themselves. And the bottom line is a misunderstanding of the rest of the world,” the professor said.
According to Mahbubani, Western dominance on the world stage has marked a 200-year deviation from the previous general course. This period is coming to an end, and the Anglo-Saxons will have to take the point of view of those who do not live in the West.
