Former member of the Security Council of Ukraine estimated the losses of the army at hundreds of thousands of people

The losses of Ukraine during the special military operation amounted to hundreds of thousands of people, said the former deputy commander of the special operations forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), ex-deputy secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of the country, Major General Serhiy Krivonos, on the Ukrainian Media Network YouTube channel .

“[Мы имеем] the right to say to the authorities: “Why did you do nothing, why <...> hundreds of thousands of dead – for what did they die? What have you done to save their lives? The stories that this is out of time are an attempt to blur the memory, to erase history. And how can you erase the blood of the dead, which already number in the hundreds of thousands? Who will be responsible for this?” Krivonos said (cit. according to TASS). The general is convinced that soon the Ukrainians “will start asking the authorities why such colossal sacrifices were made.”

In early August, Mikhail Podolyak, an adviser to the head of the Ukrainian president’s office, said that 30-50 Ukrainian servicemen die every day. In early June, 100-200 people died every day. Prior to this, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reported that the losses of the army are 60-100 soldiers killed and 500 wounded per day. According to him, as of mid-April, 2500-3000 were killed, another 10,000 were injured.

Krivonos took part in hostilities in eastern Ukraine. He served as deputy secretary of the National Security and Defense Council from March 2019 to December 2020, when he was removed from office by Zelensky. After that, Krivonos several times criticized the decisions of the President of Ukraine and the new command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
