Former Malaysian PM accuses West of obsession with war

The conflict between Ukraine and Russia is a consequence of Europe’s obsession with war and power. This opinion was expressed by former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir bin Mohamad on his Twitter. At the same time, he indicated that he did not seek to “shield the Russians.”
The politician recalled that Russia was an ally of the United States in the fight against Germany in the middle of the 20th century. And immediately after the victory in World War II, the West appointed Russia as a new enemy. This is how the NATO bloc appeared and the Cold War began. All countries of the world had to choose which side they are on.
Mohamad also noted the fact that even after the disappearance of the Warsaw Pact bloc, the West did not disband its military bloc. On the contrary, he began to build it up. Russia weakened and began to put pressure on it. NATO conducted military exercises near the Russian borders. As a result, Moscow “rebuilt the army” and a new round of confrontation began.
The ex-Prime Minister of Malaysia believes that everything that is happening now is the beginning of the Third World War. And all countries need to prepare for the fact that the situation may worsen on a global scale.
