Former leader of the “Communists of Russia” Maxim Suraikin left the legislature of the Ulyanovsk region

Today, August 24, the members of the Legislative Assembly of the Ulyanovsk region by voting satisfied the application of the deputy from the Communists of Russia party, its former leader Maxim Suraikin, to resign. On August 2, Mr. Suraykin sent an application for resignation to the credentials committee of the Legislative Assembly. As he explained to Kommersant, he is now in the DPR and LPR engaged in “technical assistance to the military investigation department in the field of information technology, as well as humanitarian aid, which takes a lot of time,” and “as an honest person,” he considered it necessary to lay down resign as a deputy.
The faction of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, which constantly clashed with Maxim Suraikin, believes that the real reason could be claims against the deputy from the prosecutor’s office of the Ulyanovsk region and the commission for monitoring the reliability of information about the income of deputies, which revealed that Mr. Suraikin “deliberately provided incomplete information about income”, in connection with which the decision of the commission was sent on August 5 for consideration by the mandate commission. The Credentials Commission did not make a decision on the declaration of income due to the fact that Maxim Suraikin had already announced the resignation of deputy powers. Mr. Suraikin himself called the commission’s claims nonsense, noting that in 2018 he gave a large loan to his friend, who returned it in the same year, and therefore there was no need to indicate this.
The abdication vote passed without debate. The Communist Party faction intended to speak in speeches about all, in its opinion, the negative aspects of the activities of the opponent, “who acted as a spoiler throughout the entire period of being a deputy”, however, at the suggestion of the chairman of the mandate commission Konstantin Dolgov (head of the executive committee of the regional department of United Russia), the majority of deputies opposed discussion of the situation. Maxim Suraikin himself did not come to discuss his question, although he was present at the first part of the meeting.
