Former head of Roscosmos Rogozin may become a senator from the Zaporozhye region

The former head of Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, is being considered as a candidate for the seat of representative of the Zaporozhye region in the Federation Council, sources familiar with the situation told Kommersant. The decision to appoint speakers of legislative assemblies and senators can be made on September 21 at meetings of the parliaments of the annexed regions. There is no official information about the date of the meetings.

According to one of Kommersant’s sources, Mr. Rogozin is now “out of reach,” “which means that, most likely, he is now at the front.”

According to Kommersant, the current senator from the executive branch, Konstantin Vorona, may remain in the Federation Council, but as a representative of the legislative assembly. According to one of the interlocutors, Vladimir Rogov, a member of the Public Chamber of Russia, is also being considered as a candidate for the position of senator.

President Vladimir Putin fired Mr. Rogozin from his post as head of Roscosmos in July 2022. Judging by Dmitry Rogozin’s Telegram channel, the Tsar’s Wolves volunteer group, under his leadership, is currently participating in hostilities in the Zaporozhye direction.
