Ex-governor of the Omsk region and former State Duma deputy from the Sverdlovsk region Alexander Burkov is now responsible for staffing at Uralvagonzavod (UVZ; part of the Rostec state corporation). How reported Ura.ru publication, Mr. Burkov became one of the directors for HR in the concern, but, according to the source “Kommersant-Ural” at the enterprise, Alexander Burkov took one of the leadership positions in the Uralvagonzavod concern, although he is not the director of HR. At the same time, his professional attention also includes personnel issues, but this is not the only thing within his powers.
The fact that Mr. Burkov took one of the leadership positions at UVZ, became known in September. Before working at the plant, since 2017 he served as acting governor of the Omsk region, and since 2018 – governor. The post of head of the region is left in March 2023 at his own request, citing a move to a new place of work where he could bring “maximum benefit to the Fatherland and the state.”
Uralvagonzavod is the largest developer and manufacturer of armored weapons and equipment in the Russian Federation (tanks, armored vehicles, metal-cutting tools), as well as freight rolling stock. The main enterprise is located in Nizhny Tagil (Sverdlovsk region). The concern unites more than 40 enterprises, design bureaus, and research institutes.
