Qatar signs a 27-year contract with Shell to supply LNG to the Netherlands – Kommersant

QatarEnergy announced on the signing of a long-term agreement with the Dutch Shell on the supply of liquefied natural gas to the Netherlands. Deliveries will begin in 2026 and are scheduled for 27 years – until 2053. Gas will be supplied from two Qatari fields – North Field South and North Field East. The annual supply volume will be about 3.5 million tons. The final point of the route of ships transporting LNG will be the port of Rotterdam.
Previously, QatarEnergy signed a similar agreement with the French TotalEnergiesas well as with Chinese CNPC And Sinopec. Both Shell and TotalEnergies are shareholders in the North Field South and North Field East projects. Each acquired each took a 9.4% stake in the North Field South development project last fall. Qatar’s second LNG expansion project, North Field East, is considered the largest in the world. Its value is estimated at $30 billion. In addition to Shell and Total, ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips and Eni hold shares in it.
