Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder said that he does not know exactly who could blow up Nord Stream. At the same time, he hinted that the United States could do this. He voiced his assumptions in an interview with the German newspaper Berliner Zeitung.
According to him, despite the damage, Nord Stream 2 can be launched.
“There is only one sign: at the beginning of 2022, Joe Biden told German Chancellor Olaf Scholz that Nord Stream would not be able to work if Russia launched a special operation. Everyone can draw their own conclusions from this,” said the German politician.
He also noted that two pipeline lines need repairs. Schroeder assures that the launch of Nord Stream 2 would be reasonable from a price point of view.
Explosions on gas pipelines occurred in September last year. The Russian side has repeatedly stated that such actions constitute a terrorist attack.
