The press secretary of the Yaroslavl Regional Court, Olga Kozlova, told RIA news about a lawsuit from the former Mundep demanding that the words “mayor”, “mayor’s office” and “municipality” be replaced with Russian counterparts. As explained in court, the fate of a registered appeal can be different – it can, for example, be left without movement or returned to the plaintiff.
The representative of the court also clarified that the plaintiff – a former deputy of the municipality of Yaroslavl Alexander Simon – asks to recognize the use of borrowed words as contrary to the federal law “On the state language of the Russian Federation.”
However, as the agency recalls, the authors of the law adopted in February make the issue of name replacements dependent on the appearance of agreed normative dictionaries, which should appear by 2025.
