Former Chairman of the Accounts Chamber of Russia and former head of the Supreme Council of Kabardino-Balkaria Khachim Karmokov died at the age of 82. The head of the region, Kazbek Kokov, announced his death at a meeting of the government of Kabardino-Balkaria.
“Unfortunately, today the republic suffered a heavy loss. A prominent statesman and political figure, Khachim Mukhamedovich Karmokov, passed away… He stood at the origins, was the founder of the Accounts Chamber. Blessed memory of Khachim Mukhamedovich,” said Mr. Kokov at a government meeting. Video from the meeting was published in Telegram-channel of the head of the region.
Kazbek Kokov clarified that Mr. Karmokov died in one of the clinics in Moscow. A special republican commission has been created to transport the body of the former chairman of the Accounts Chamber to Kabardino-Balkaria, as well as organize his funeral.
Khachim Karmokov was born on May 2, 1941. He headed the Supreme Council of Kabardino-Balkaria from 1991 to 1993. In January 1994, Mr. Karmokov was appointed Chairman of the Accounts Chamber of Russia. He held this position until April 2000. Awarded the Order of Friendship and the Certificate of Honor of the Federation Council.
