Former Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl decided to move to St. Petersburg to work at the GORKI (The Geopolitical Observatory for Russia’s Key Issues) center, which she heads.

On the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), Kneissl told TASS that she is the co-founder and head of the GORKI center. Due to the large amount of work and the need to pay more attention to it, she decided to move to St. Petersburg.

She also noted that St. Petersburg State University provides her with significant assistance in preparing the documents necessary for research work. The GORKI Center focuses on issues of energy, migration and new alliances, as well as the Arab and Islamic world, with which Kneissl is well acquainted.

Kneissl served as Austria’s Minister for European Affairs, Integration and External Relations from 2017 to 2019. This year she lived in the Ryazan region after the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
