Foreign Ministry commented on the talks on Ukraine in Saudi Arabia

If the Saudi talks on Ukraine help the West “understand the whole dead end of the Zelensky plan”, then they will not be useless. This was stated to the correspondent of “Vedomosti” by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
“Now a large number of different initiatives are being proposed. We are in contact with partners. As for the Saudi Arabian event, if it helps the West understand the dead end of the “plan [президента Украины Владимира] Zelensky”, then [оно] will not be useless,” said the representative of the Foreign Ministry.
On July 29, The Wall Street Journal, citing sources, reported on Saudi Arabia’s plans to hold peace talks on Ukraine without Russia’s participation. According to the publication, the meeting will be held from 5 to 6 August in Jeddah. It will be attended by the UK, the EU, Poland and South Africa. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan is also expected to arrive. Earlier, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani Chafi said that Iran supports this initiative.
Also in the Kremlin declaredthat will follow the talks in Saudi Arabia. At the same time, the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov specified that there are no prerequisites for entering into peace negotiations with the current position of Kyiv.
Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting with the African mission to resolve the conflict on July 28 pointed outthat Russia is ready for negotiations with Ukraine, but Kyiv has legally banned dialogue on a peaceful settlement with Moscow.
