In 2022-2023, Roskomnadzor collected fines totaling 1.17 billion rubles from persons included in the register of foreign agents. During the same period, RKN blocked more than 4.2 thousand sites and individual materials. Zaitsev separately noted that the dissemination of extremist content is, in his opinion, one of the factors destabilizing the socio-political situation. In this regard, he said that in two years his department had achieved the blocking or removal of more than 792 thousand materials.
According to the current legislation of the Russian Federation, foreign agents on the Ministry of Justice list are required to accompany their publications with special markings. The fine for its absence for individuals is 30-50 thousand rubles, for legal entities – 300-500 thousand. A third violation within a year may result in criminal charges and penalties of up to 2 years in prison.
