“Fontanka”: Finnish customs officers began to take the euro from the Russians

Finnish customs officers offer to take the euros confiscated from the Russians for safekeeping at the border.

Fontankareferring to a resident of St. Petersburg, Yuri, said that Finnish customs officers at the border offered to take the euro seized from the Russians for storage.

According to the publication, Finnish customs officials seize currency from Russians crossing the border under the pretext of sanctions imposed by the European Union. In particular, the ban on the import of the official EU currency into Russia. At the same time, the specific amount for the withdrawal or the minimum threshold is not called.

According to Yuri, the customs officers approached him after passing through passport control at the Finnish border. They asked if the man had euros and asked to see the money. After that, they took away a few bills for themselves, and returned the rest.

“They took a few euros and they say: “Restrictions have been imposed, you can’t export euros to Russia…”, said a resident of St. Petersburg.

He clarified that the customs officers drew up an act in which they indicated the denomination of the banknotes and the total amount, and also showed the man an excerpt from the rules of the Finnish customs, which became the basis for the seizure of the banknotes.

Among other things, the customs officers clarified that the money is not withdrawn forever. They offered to leave the euros for safekeeping at the border to receive them upon re-entry, or to hand them over to someone leaving for Finland.
