Five members of the Ukrainian underground in Melitopol were accused of terrorism and put on trial, Kommersant reports.
As reported, the case will be considered by the court in Rostov-on-Don. This case will be the largest in terms of the number of participants. They will be tried for organizing a terrorist underground to carry out terrorist attacks.
The report says that contract serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Igor Gorlov, military personnel of the territorial defense Vladimir Zuev, Andriy Golubev and Alexander Zhukov, as well as Yuriy Petrov, who was dismissed from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, will be judged.
According to the FSB, all five were members of the Union of Melitopol ATO Participants, which planned explosions at the locations of Russian troops and places of distribution of humanitarian aid to needy citizens. The terrorist attack they were preparing was prevented on April 6, 2022, when a car loaded with explosives was found in the garage box of one of the accused Gorlov. Later, caches of weapons, ammunition and grenades were found.
The defendants were sent from Melitopol to Crimea, where they were arrested by the Crimean Court of Simferopol, and later sent to the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center in Moscow. The trial of them will begin in the Southern District Military Court will begin at the end of April.
