First direct flight in four years departs from Moscow to Tbilisi – Kommersant

The plane of the Russian airline “Azimuth”, en route Moscow-Tbilisi, took off from Vnukovo airport. This is the first direct flight between Russia and Georgia in the last four years.
According to information on site airport, the flight took off with a slight delay. According to the schedule, the plane was supposed to leave Moscow at 8:50, but the actual departure took place at 9:07. The plane is expected to arrive at Tbilisi International Airport at 13:38 local time (12:38 Moscow time).
May 10 Russian President Vladimir Putin stripped off a ban on flights to Georgia for Russian airlines. Since May 15, the visa regime for Georgian citizens has been cancelled. The right to fly to Georgia from Russian airlines is still received only Azimuth. Permission for flights to Tbilisi, Batumi and Kutaisi was requested from the Georgian authorities by at least four more Russian airlines.
