Finland will continue building a fence on its border with the Russian Federation in the winter of 2024. This was reported by the Finnish Border Service on the official website.
“Construction of the first target areas [в рамках нового плана] will begin in the winter of 2024,” the press service said in a statement.
They also noted that the pilot phase of the eastern border fence project was completed this summer. The Finnish agency clarified that during the pilot phase, barriers were built in Pelkol, the length of which is 2.8 km, as well as a 300-meter training barrier in the Immola garrison zone.
In addition, they said that options for fencing that can pass through marshy areas are currently being tested in Salla.
