Finland will become a member of NATO on April 4

As reported in the Office of the President of Finland, April 4 this year, the country will be officially accepted as a member of NATO. President Sauli Niinistö, Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto and Defense Minister Antti Kaikkonen will attend a ceremony at NATO Headquarters where Minister Haavisto will hand over Finland’s accession to the alliance. After that, the Finnish flag will be raised as a sign that Finland has become a member of this organization.
Importantly, Finland will be the 31st country to join NATO. Moreover, Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto will also deposit the Finnish instrument of ratification of NATO accession by Sweden, whose application was approved on 1 March 2023.
