Finland proposes to abolish second citizenship for Russians
[ad_1]
The Finnish authorities may cancel the second citizenship for Russians. According to “Izvestia“, such demands have recently been increasingly made by local politicians.
Finland has been recognizing second citizenship, including Russian, since 2003, although a corresponding agreement has not been signed between Helsinki and Moscow.
According to the Finnish Statistics Office, there are currently 36,000 people with dual Finnish-Russian citizenship living in the country.
Earlier, from September 30, the Finnish authorities closed entry to their territory for Russian citizens on tourist visas. In addition, they introduced a ban on transit to other Schengen countries.
