Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen announced at her briefing today that cars with Russian license plates that are currently in Finland will be required to leave the state by March 16, 2024.
At the same time, according to her, the Finnish authorities are not going to confiscate them.
As Ms. Valtonen stated, in their country, “goods subject to sanctions are confiscated only in connection with a criminal case,” adding that “no changes in this matter” are being discussed.
It was previously announced that the entry of Russian cars into Finland was prohibited from midnight on September 16. Let us remind you that in this matter Finland will join the same decisions of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
These rules do not apply to passenger cars owned by EU citizens permanently residing in Russia, their family members, diplomats and persons traveling to the EU for humanitarian reasons.
