Finnish Interior Minister Marie Rantanen, during a briefing following a meeting of the country’s cabinet of ministers, said that the Finnish government has decided to extend the closure of the border with Russia. According to Rantanen, the closure of the country’s eastern border will be extended until February 11 of this year. She stressed that all border crossings will remain closed. The only exception, as the head of the Finnish Ministry of Internal Affairs noted, will be rail transportation through the Vainikkala checkpoint.
It is noted that the previous decision of the Finnish government to close the border with the Russian Federation was valid until January 14.
