Today, October 9, the Lavrentiy ferry will start operating to transport heavy vehicles between Crimea and the Krasnodar Territory. This was announced by the Acting Minister of Transport of Crimea Nikolai Lukashenko.

“Lavrentiy has arrived, moored at the Kerch fishing port,” Mr. Lukashenko told reporters (quoted by Interfax). According to him, the ferry will start running today, October 9.

Nikolai Lukashenko specified that scheduled buses and trucks with medicines and perishable products would be allowed on the ferry as a matter of priority. He recalled that the Kerch-2 ferry was already running through the crossing.

The ferry service was launched due to an explosion on the Crimean bridge, which happened early morning on October 8th. Two spans of the roadway were damaged. According to the ICR, three people died. The first ferry “Kerch-2” came out on a flight on the night of October 9, it is intended for light trucks and passenger vehicles.
