FCS partially resumed publication of foreign trade statistics

The Federal Customs Service issued a message announcing the resumption of the publication of customs statistics on foreign trade. Earlier, from the end of February 2022, the publication of FCS statistics on exports and imports was suspended “to avoid incorrect estimates.”
“The FCS of Russia has published the value of exports and imports of the Russian Federation for 2022. Subsequently, the value of exports and imports by commodity groups will be published monthly on the 40th day after the end of the reporting period on an accrual basis and broken down by months,” the FCS said.
Earlier in the publications of the Western press there were hints that the closure of some economic statistics for the Russian Federation is a measure to hide the extent of the damage caused by anti-Russian sanctions. At the same time, the “effectiveness” of these sanctions is increasingly questioned even by their initiators, which is reflected in the growing number of relevant publications.
