FAS reported a decrease in wholesale prices for chicken meat

Chicken meat producers began to reduce wholesale prices for broiler carcasses after the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia sent them requests to conduct an analysis of the reasonableness of prices. The press service of the department reports this.
In particular, Cherkizovo, GAP Resurs and Prioskolye received requests from the FAS. They sent notifications of price reductions not only to the FAS, but also to retailers. The FAS added that it also recommended “proportionately reducing” the cost of chicken meat to retail chains “in the event of price reductions or discounts” by suppliers.
The agency called on participants throughout the commodity production chain to “behave responsibly” and emphasized the inadmissibility of unreasonable price increases. They added that they would monitor the fulfillment of their obligations by suppliers.
Earlier today, Kommersant with reference to the Unirest company (manages KFC and Rostic’s in the Russian Federation) reportedthat Russian fast food chains are facing a shortage of chicken meat. Catering operators surveyed by the newspaper also expressed concern about increased purchasing prices.
The Ministry of Agriculture emphasized that the market is supplied with poultry meat, and enterprises are also increasing production volumes. There, with reference to the National Union of Poultry Farmers, they added that retailers are now a priority. In a conversation with RIA Novosti, the department stated that it expects positive dynamics in the industry by the end of 2023.
