The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) opened a case against Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill JSC. According to the regulator, in 2023 the company raised prices for cardboard and paper used to make corrugated cardboard by more than 40%.

Corrugated packaging is made from corrugated cardboard. It is used, among other things, for storing and transporting food, medicines, building materials, furniture and household chemicals.

FAS stated that Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill occupies a dominant position in the market. The department’s monitoring showed that from August to November 2023, the company increased prices for paper by 42.3% and for cardboard by 41.4%.

“Analysis of business data showed that the prices set since September 2023 exceeded the amount of necessary expenses and profits. The department has opened a case against the organization for violating antimonopoly legislation,” the statement says. press release FAS.

If guilt is established, Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill faces a turnover fine. FAS also sent inquiries to other large manufacturers of these products about the “reasonability of the prices set.” It is not specified which companies we are talking about.
