FAS: Detsky Mir fixed prices for a number of school goods

Detsky Mir, at the suggestion of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS), has taken a number of measures to increase the availability of school supplies before the start of the school year, reported on the website of the department.

In particular, the largest seller of children’s goods in Russia has fixed prices for certain items of school uniforms and clothes for the autumn-winter 2023/2024 season, stationery, school supplies and children’s art. In addition, Detsky Mir has reduced the cost of certain products, for example, one of the models of backpacks with a pencil case has become almost half the price of 2022.

The company, added to the Federal Antimonopoly Service, also maintained the minimum prices for school goods at the level of 2021 and complies with all previously assumed voluntary obligations to limit markups and fix prices for individual goods.

“FAS will continue to monitor Detsky Mir’s compliance with all of the above voluntary obligations,” the service concluded.

According to a study by VTsIOM, this year, on average, Russians spent 43,029 rubles to get the child to school, which is 9804 rubles. (30%) more than a year earlier. Analysts note that the main item of expenditure was school clothing. Parents spent an average of 20,414 rubles on it. per child, which is 23% more than in 2022. In addition to uniforms, we are talking about sportswear, removable shoes, etc.

Approximately 5000 rubles. spent on buying a new backpack or school bag (+21% yoy) and teaching materials (+40%). The school office cost an average of 3581 rubles. (+22%).

As Vedomosti wrote earlier, this year 25% of parents of Russian schoolchildren plan to increase spending on their children’s education, including additional education. The increase in spending on out-of-school paid education, experts say, is due to the need to pass the exam.
