The Arbitration Court of the Moscow District approved a settlement agreement on the claim of Cinema Park (owned by businessman Alexander Mamut) against Trust Bank to change the terms of the loan agreement. The conditions of the settlement and the details of the hearing are unknown, since the case was considered at a closed meeting.

In 2021, Trust filed a lawsuit against Alexander Mamut to recover a debt on loans from his Cinema Park cinema network of 19.2 billion rubles. Cinema Park filed 4 lawsuits against Trust back in January 2021. “Trust” pointed out that “Cinema Park” tried through the courts to impose unacceptable conditions for restructuring the loan, referring to the difficult situation due to the pandemic.

However, the court satisfied the claims of Cinema Park and allowed the loans to be rolled over and the rate on them to be reduced. At the end of 2020, the court estimated the debt of Mamut’s companies (Cinema Park and A&NN Investments Limited) to Trust at 23 billion rubles. The main part of it falls on the film business, another 2.5 billion rubles – on the company “Vanderkind”, which manages the network of Vinnie toy stores.

In February, the Ninth Arbitration Court of Appeal, the previous decision was in force and ordered Trust to change the terms of the loan agreement for Cinema Park. However, in August the Arbitration Court of the Moscow District overturned the decision of the courts of other instances. At the same time, the court approved the settlement agreement in the case.

In February 2022, Otkritie Bank, which owned Tochka, came under US blocking sanctions. Shortly before that, 90.01% of Tochka’s shares were sold to Trust. Alexander Mamut said that he did not understand why the loans of his companies from Otkritie were transferred to Trust. In particular, he had questions about the criteria for classifying assets as non-core.
