The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia will soon be able to begin inspections of Yandex Taxi for violation of antimonopoly laws and dominant position in the market, said the head of the department, Maxim Shaskolsky. According to him, complaints about the service are related to the cost of trips and blocking of drivers and passengers.

Speaking at the Federation Council, Maxim Shaskolsky recalled that the FAS could not previously check the aggregator, since it is on the register of companies subject to a moratorium on inspections. “For example, Yandex Taxi is also on our register, and we also cannot check them. And now we can. And there are a lot of complaints there. The company truly occupies a dominant position – 80%. It’s different in different regions, but in Moscow it’s no less. There are separate questions there. They are related to the procedure for blocking consumers and drivers. They are related to the procedure for calculating remuneration and fees,” he said (quoted by TASS).

The FAS recognized Yandex Taxi as dominant in the market back in 2021. For 2023 to the department received more than 300 complaints related to the cost of travel and blocking of drivers and passengers in the service.

The decree on a moratorium on inspections for IT companies was approved by the government in March 2022. According to the document, scheduled inspections of state and municipal control bodies in relation to IT companies from the state register will not be carried out until December 31, 2024

About the FAS claims – in the Kommersant FM material “Yandex Taxi was recognized as dominant”.
