Fabulous Balinese hospitality: special forces will meet direct flights from Russia

The Russian side initiated the launch from the last ten days of September of direct flights to the Indonesian resort island of Bali, where, despite the current difficult logistics, our compatriots are leading among foreign tourists. And from September 20, there will be even more of us, because domestic wings plan to fly to Bali twice a week. But the island of paradise unexpectedly responded to the good intention of our tourism industry to expand the tourist flow by expanding the list of offenses for which Russians are subject to deportation. We found out why Bali has such a “fabulous” inhospitality towards us ?!

The promised and long-awaited direct flight to the Indonesian island is already announced in the schedule of the capital’s airport at 2.05 am on Wednesdays and Sundays. Based on new opportunities, domestic tour operators began to form a new tourism product. In anticipation of the imminent profit, judging by the announcement, including from Russian owners of Balinese housing, the private sector of Bali has also revived. But the island’s immigration service, with the support of its government, in anticipation of an even more massive Russian tourist, only tightens the rules.

– The general director of the Balinese “immigrafka” in plain text on TV called the innovation “catching violent Russians,” says 31-year-old Russian long-steer Kirill, who has been renting a villa in the Jimbaran beach area for six months in a share with three compatriots of the same age. – As if we were wild boars!

– Well, there were reasons – our fellow citizens already made nude selfies against the backdrop of Indonesian shrines, and taxi drivers with tuktukers and guides with hoteliers took away bread, and massive accidents and fights were staged …

– Yeah, and they also resisted the arrest, – Kirill agrees.

– But it is unlikely that direct regular flights, which by definition are not cheap, will be flown by Russians who are going to take bread from a Balinese tuktuker! Those who will spend their money on Bali will fly with them, and they will “trap” us!

– Local authorities are afraid that these expensive flights will buy one-way tickets for those who do not rest here, but for a long time. If not for a direct flight, other things being equal, they would have chosen Thailand or Goa, where there are already direct flights. Bali loses only in logistics. But if we improve it, then there will definitely be twice as many of us here. Poor people will simply start saving up for a van vey ticket. And a tourist to ruin money for a week is not a regular season, but a charter, which does not even exist and is not expected.

According to the director general of the Bali immigration service, Silmi Karim, the “project to catch violent and low-paying guests” developed in their office was adopted by almost a popular vote and, as stated in the official report, “approved not only by the government of the resort island, but also by its people.” The service emphasizes that the “project” concerns all foreign tourists on the Indonesian island, but since the majority of them are Russians, it is mainly Russians.

“In general, the “timpora” – something like a squad for the supervision of foreigners – has been wandering here since spring,” says Olga, a Muscovite who moved to Bali with her husband and children a year ago. – They leave on a “knock”, as the official gendarmerie does not have enough arms and legs for this. Even during the creation of this special detachment, it was announced that it would work on the basis of “signals from citizens.” And these signals immediately rushed mother do not worry, mostly from our own, by the way. This is how they remove competitors in business from compatriots. And ours here stand on three pillars – rental housing, rental of road and water scooters, and, as they call it here, “small wholesale”. Buy and sell what can be resold with profit. But these are more often local honking, they themselves are here for this part. And about the golyaks at the temples, too, of course, local.

– And what do ours “beep” at each other?

– Well, for example, you call and say that in such and such a villa (you name the exact address) the screams are as if someone is being killed. And you’re just a neighbor. The timpor does not require the name of the “signaling device”, if he himself is not called, for his own safety. They arrive at the address, and since they have already arrived, they will still check it, even if there is deathly silence. And as soon as they check, then there will definitely be an overstay (violation of the visa regime – author) or illegal rent, or work, or something else. Who seeks will always find.

But then what has changed if the Balinese timpora is already working with might and main ?! Official representatives of the immigration service of the paradise island report that a new special squad has now been created to help timpor – Bali Becik Task Force, which literally means “special forces”. And the new tourist special forces, unlike the timpora, have clearly defined tasks and standards – 100 tourists a month for deportation. In an unofficial field, employees of the “immigraf” add that for the fulfillment and overfulfillment of the norms, the Balinese tourist special forces will be encouraged with titles and bonuses, and punished for underfulfillment. So, of course, everyone will try very hard. And the bright goal of the special forces, it is also the slogan – the fight against unruly vacationers as a step towards improving the quality of tourism.

– Aren’t these commandos going to catch the innocent for the sake of encouragement and for show? – I’m interested in a Russian-speaking guide from Nusa Dua (one of the most expensive areas of the island – author).

– Of course, they will, – agrees Salem Abdul, a Balinese who studied in the Russian Federation. – Therefore, they expanded the list of things for which they can be caught and deported.

– So that the innocent become guilty?!

– Absolutely innocent will definitely not be touched. It’s just that earlier deportation was only for violating the general civil and criminal laws of Bali and the general Indonesian visa regime. And now sacrilege, immoral behavior, insulting the religious feelings of local residents and their sense of beauty have also officially become the basis for a fine and expulsion of a tourist at his own expense.

– The last one is especially beautiful!

– Sounds like yes. But in fact, these are unpleasant individuals who defile the local culture with their actions. The possibilities for signals from anonymous people have also expanded. Now they can be sent directly to the mail of the Balinese Ombudsman, he specially equipped it with a translator bot so that the Russians could also signal.
