The Zaporozhye NPP was disconnected from external power supply and transferred to diesel generators due to the shutdown of the Dneprovskaya power line. About it reported in the station’s Telegram channel.
“As a result of the shutdown of the 750 kV high-voltage line, the Dnipro Zaporozhye NPP lost external power supply. Auxiliary needs are supplied from diesel generators,” the statement said.
It is specified that the radiation background on the territory of ZNPP is normal. The reasons for the shutdown are being investigated. According to a member of the main council of the administration of the Zaporozhye region, chairman of the movement “We are together with Russia” Vladimir Rogov, the Dnieper power line turned off Ukrainian “Energoatom”.
Zaporozhye NPP is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. ZNPP has been under Russian control since the end of February 2022. Since then, the Russian side has reported that the plant and the city of Energodar, where it is located, are subject to regular shelling from Ukraine. In early September last year, an IAEA mission arrived at ZNPP. The organization called for an end to the attacks on the station and the establishment of a safe zone around it.
