Exports of cars from Japan to Russia in July 2023 increased by 53% compared to the average for the last year, according to materials Ministry of Finance of Japan.
Over the past month, 33,192 vehicles were delivered to Russia from Japan, of which 32,116 were cars, according to the department’s statistics. This is 84% higher than the same period last year and 53% higher than the 2022 average. At the same time, in July, Japan reduced the supply of spare parts and components for cars by 44.4%.
In July became knownthat the Japanese authorities are going to completely ban the supply of cars with an engine capacity of more than 1.9 liters to Russia as part of the continuation of the sanctions policy. New and used cars fall under the restrictions, however, the supply of new cars to Russia from Japan was completely stopped in 2022. According to the customs service of Vladivostok, in the first half of 2023, Russians doubled the import of Japanese cars compared to last year, to 130,000 units. Almost all of them were with mileage. Shortly after the appearance of information about the impending introduction of this ban, experts noted a twofold increase in daily sales of Japanese cars in the Russian Federation.
