Experts expect a record growth in the ruble corporate bond market this year

The volume of new placements on the ruble-denominated corporate bond market may reach a record high in 2023 and amount to about 4.5–5.5 trillion rubles. Such a forecast is given by experts in the report “Russian Economy Under Sanctions: From Adaptation to Sustainable Growth”. The demand for this instrument is growing due to the need to raise funds for the implementation of investment programs and refinancing of obligations in the conditions of closed foreign markets, economists point out.

The sanctions did not lead to a collapse in the ruble debt bond market, the authors of the report state. If at the end of 2021 the entire market volume was about 17.6 trillion rubles, then at the end of 2022 it was 19.8 trillion (an increase of 12.5%). By the end of 2023, the total volume of the ruble corporate bond market may grow by more than 20% and exceed 24 trillion rubles, experts say.
