Experts did not see pluses for the economy in the policy of a weak ruble

The policy of a weak ruble, aimed at smoothing out the decline in prices for raw materials on world markets, has ceased to be relevant. In the conditions of reorientation to domestic consumption, a strong and stable ruble becomes more effective for the economy, experts interviewed by Vedomosti believe. A weak ruble, although it has a positive effect on budget revenues and exporters, provokes inflation, which not only practically eliminates the increase in tax revenues, but also negatively affects the purchasing power of households.
For example, to increase budget revenues by an additional 500 billion rubles. it is necessary to weaken the exchange rate against the dollar by 6 rubles, economist Alexander Isakov calculated. Such a decrease in the value of the national currency increases inflation by 1 percentage point, he continued.
