Most of those missing during the Russian-Ukrainian conflict whose whereabouts have been identified by the International Committee of the Red Cross are believed to be alive and in captivity, Jerome Cassou, head of data processing for the ICRC’s central tracing agency, told reporters.
He noted that most of the 8,200 families who received information about their loved ones learned that they were being held as prisoners of war. Kassou stressed that all these people are protected and will not be forgotten, as the ICRC is monitoring them until their release.
The organization is actively collating information about the missing and doing everything possible to find and release them.
