After the use by the Russian armed forces of planning bombs of the FAB-500 type in Bakhmut (Artemovsk), the Ukrainian army dramatically changed its tactics, military expert and editor of Arsenal of the Fatherland magazine Oleksiy Leonkov explained in an interview with RIA Novosti.
Previously, the Ukrainian military placed sniper positions on the upper floors of residential buildings, and the basements were used as headquarters and warehouses. However, after air strikes with the use of air bombs, both the military personnel who were on the upper floors and in the basements died. This led to significant losses for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and forced the General Staff to change tactics, Leonkov said.
He explained that at present the Ukrainian military is focusing on the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, in particular, small quadrocopters. In addition, high-rise buildings are still used, but video cameras are placed on their roofs that transmit information about the movement of units in the city, and not people, as before, the expert noted.
Leonkov added that Russian troops began to actively use high-explosive bombs of the FAB-500 type with planning and correction modules along the entire front line.
