Exercises involving 30 warships of the Russian Navy began in the Baltic Sea

On August 2, the Ocean Shield 2023 naval exercises will begin in the Baltic Sea with the participation of 6,000 servicemen, the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry said.
“The exercises will be held under the leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov,” the official Telegram channel Russian defense department.
According to the Ministry of Defense, in the course of the exercises that have begun, it is planned to test the readiness of the Navy forces to protect Russia’s national interests in an operationally important area. In addition, the forces of the Navy, as part of the exercises in the Baltic Sea, will in practice test the coherence of the work of headquarters at various levels responsible for command and control of the military forces of the Russian Federation. More than 30 warships and boats and 20 support vessels are involved in the exercises.
In early June, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported about holding other large-scale military exercises in the Baltic Sea. According to the defense department, up to 40 ships, up to 25 aircraft and helicopters, up to 500 units of special equipment and over 3.5 thousand military personnel were involved in them.
