Former head of the Federal Customs Service (FCS) Vladimir Bulavin will become a senator, reports RBC with reference to sources. According to them, the appointment is expected after a single voting day on September 10, which will result in a rotation of senators in the upper house of parliament.
According to RBC, Mr. Bulavin may become a senator from the governor of the Ivanovo region, Stanislav Voskresensky, who will run for a second term this year. The final decision on the region for the ex-head of the FCS has not yet been made, one of the interlocutors of the publication clarified.
Vladimir Bulavin in 2006 was appointed deputy director of the FSB, he headed the apparatus of the National Anti-Terrorism Committee. In 2008, he became the first deputy secretary of the Security Council. In 2013–2016, he served as presidential envoy to the Northwestern Federal District, after which he headed the Federal Customs Service. In February 2023, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin fired Mr. Bulavin in connection with his 70th birthday.
