Ex-Deputy Minister Tuka accused the Ukrainian media of conniving and helping draft dodgers
The Ukrainian authorities and the media did nothing to ensure that the general mobilization took place without violence. This was stated on January 2 by former Deputy Minister for Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine Georgy Tuka in an interview with the YouTube channel Newsroom.
“I am very annoyed that our (Ukrainian) media <...> 90–95% of the attention in the issue of mobilization is not the need to replenish personnel, <...>but are trying to discuss how to help draft dodgers evade conscription,” said the former official.
As Tuka noted, the information policy of the authorities at the earlier stages of the conflict is also to blame for the large number of draft dodgers. He believes that the citizens of Ukraine “relaxed their buns” due to propaganda about the “imminent victory of Kyiv.”
