Ex-CIA agent explained why the Ukrainian Armed Forces offensive failed

In an interview with the Dialogue Works YouTube channel, former CIA analyst Larry Johnson explained why the Ukrainian army’s counteroffensive was unsuccessful.
He noted: “They had little chance of success. How in the name of all that is holy did you want to attack fortified positions when you can only rely on ground forces and artillery in small numbers? Without air power this is impossible!”
Johnson also emphasized that the failure of the counteroffensive can be attributed to an initial serious miscalculation by NATO countries. The West sincerely believed that the Ukrainians would not encounter much resistance from Russian troops, who were supposedly unable to strike back.
This opinion is shared by many military experts from the United States and Europe, who also point to the failure of the Kyiv regime’s summer campaign. At the same time, they highlight the effectiveness of Russian minefields and layered defense.
